Sarah is phenomenal at her job! She did her absolute best to help us rectify an issue with my kid having two profiles? Weird. But Sarah did everything in the best of her ability, including calling corporate and getting her branch manager involved to try and override the issue. A Masterclass in Incompetence This Wells Fargo branch has provided one of the most astonishing displays of incompetence I’ve ever encountered. In August, my elderly mother and I went in to cancel a recurring payment. After nearly an hour of back-and-forth, we were told it had been resolved. It wasn’t. She went back a second time on her own—still not resolved. I then went a third time, armed with full documentation, identification, and a valid Power of Attorney, only to be told I now needed a “letter of incapacitation.” When I pointed out that my mother is not incapacitated, no one could explain what exactly this letter was supposed to say, who was meant to issue it, or why it was required at all. It was clear the staff had no idea what they were talking about. Throughout, they were curt, unhelpful, and evasive. When I asked for clarification, I was told to “call the bank”—while I was physically standing inside the bank. The entire experience revealed a stunning lack of training, accountability, and basic logic. Wells Fargo made the same error multiple times, refused to correct it, and treated us as if their confusion was somehow our problem. This isn’t just poor service; it’s institutional incompetence. Proceed with caution.
